X-rays are useful but don't reveal the total picture

Want to know a secret? Patients think more of X-rays than doctors do. Not a week goes by when I don't hear the questions, "What does the X-ray show?" or the more accusing, "Didn't that show up in the X-ray?" We need X-rays, but they often don't show as much as we'd like.
