Now, Miller, 18, a native of Oakville, Ontario, tackles the challenges of being a first-year student at Mercyhurst and playing forward for a nationally ranked women's hockey program. "My life is all about challenges, and figuring out ways how to adapt," said Miller, who wore hearing aids from the ages of 1 until 8, when she had a cochlear implant, a small electronic device that provides a sense of sound, surgically implanted above her right ear.
