New charge in gardener whipping case

Army dentist Jan van Tonder, who is facing charges of attempted murder, will know next month when he'll be going on trial for allegedly assaulting a gardener with a sjambok. Van Tonder was back in the dock of the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges related to an attack on Malawian Muhammed Makungwa on Sunday, November 9. On Tuesday, prosecutor Nathan Johnson told the court investigations were complete and "we can postpone for a regional court date".
