Tri-national study promotes early intervention strategies to improve indigenous oral health

A first of its kind, a study funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, involving indigenous populations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand is attempting to tackle a growing problem in indigenous populations: early childhood caries. Causing pain and often requiring treatment under general anaesthetic, early childhood caries also predispose children to ear infections as well as adult caries.
