Monitor Board of Contributors: Our kids? You bet they are

My wife and I had the privilege of attending last month's speech at St. Anselm College by Robert Putnam, author of the new book, Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis. Putnam's main point is that along with a pervasive and growing income gap between the rich and lower-income folks, there is an ominous, widening and related gap between the life prospects of children from lower-income/single-parent families and kids whose parents are more prosperous and better educated.
