While the stereotype of the "gun guy" clad in camouflage still exists, firearms owners are much more likely to be your dentist, doctor or the guy or gal next door. Interest in shooting whether for sport, recreation or home and self-defense is on the rise, and while the rate of new permit issues has leveled off recently, that's more than double the number of permit holders just five years ago.
