When Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services recently surveyed 302 people about the most important health problems in their county, the top answers were cancers, obesity, mental health, paying for health care and aging. While those are issues the community sees, the DVHHS Board of Directors cast a wider net to come up with its stated priorities for the next three years: improving dental health; decreasing cardiovascular disease by addressing obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure; and increasing childhood immunization rates.
