A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Leland Stanford and Minnie Lee Spurlin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Carolyn Ott Spurlin; sons, Lewis Scott Spurlin and Stuart Allan Spurlin; and sister, Wilma Spurlin.
