My Leftist Dentist Remembering Dr. Irving Peress, Persecuted by McCarthy Dr. Peress was my dentist for years. Everyone I knew who went to him was a lefty of some sort; it was something of a point of pride to have your gums examined by someone who had been persecuted by Joe McCarthy.
