State dentistry board member who faces discipline, Matt Tripp, resigns at Kitzhaber's request

A Grants Pass dental hygienist, John "Matt" Tripp , has resigned from the state board of dentistry at Gov. John Kitzhaber's request, but says he plans to fight a proposed $10,000 fine for allegedly abusing his position and committing other violations. On Oct. 17, in an unusual move, Tripp's fellow members of the Oregon Board of Dentistry asked Kitzhaber's deputy chief of staff, Kendall Clawson, to take note of their unanimous concerns, according to a letter released under Oregon Public Records Law.
