Gum Receding Between Two Teeth, What To Do?

The gum between two of my back teeth has been painfully inflamed since Friday, and in attempting to address it today I discovered that there's a rather sizable divot between the teeth that I can see when I use floss to push the infected gum down. I'm too young to have receding gums.
