Gretna dentist collecting candy for troops

As a part of "Operation Troop Treats," the Gretna Kool Smiles dental office, 6 Westside Shopping Center, is encouraging children to donate their Halloween candy to them in exchange for a toy from Oct. 29 through Nov. 5, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The candy will be included in care packages to U.S. troops serving overseas. In 2013, more than 2 tons of candy was donated, and the race is on to exceed last year's contribution.
