Shelter workers help make animals smile

MARTINEZ -- Shadow, a black 7-year-old cat, was the first of a few homeless animals to receive a dental checkup and treatment recently at the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter as part of the nationwide "Make Me Smile" shelter project.
